I converted the black wind arrows to a white arrow set for a dark site. I thought it maybe useful to anyone else with the same problem.

Here is a tar.gz for you to extract in the Mod_yrWeather img directory. When you extract the file you will have a directory called "white windarrows". If you just want to check them out, rename the original windarrows directory "black_windarrows", then rename the "white windarrows" to "windarrows". Clear your cache and refresh the page.

Hummm the file is 141k so I can't attach it.

If a mod could download it from this link http://freshviewgardens.co.uk/tmp/white_windarrows.tar.gz. They can upload it somewhere here and edit the link in my post, before I trash the tmp directory. That would be handy.
